For those not yet ready to travel, leveraging business networks is still vital.

When Covid-19 restrictions started to ease in Canada and the UK, I seized the opportunity to return to the UK to host a series of in person business meetings to discuss export business opportunities for UK companies looking to expand into the North American market.

As the UK grapples with the impact of the pandemic and Brexit, I’m seeing more UK companies looking further afield to explore new trade and investment opportunities and Canada is becoming an increasingly interesting prospect due to its location, free trade agreements, ease of doing business and diverse culture.

Confidence is growing amongst the business community to attend in person events and to consider international travel again, and we all recognise that building relationships based on face-to-face interaction, not just virtually, is crucial to securing new export opportunities.

On Thursday 19 August I’m working in partnership with the Department for International Trade (DIT) North West to co-host an in-person event in Manchester addressing Canadian Export Opportunities. The event will shine a light on what expertise companies can access to explore trade links in Canada including tapping into local departments for international trade in the UK that offer advice and financial support. But for those companies that are not yet ready to travel, leveraging business networks to develop new connections is still vital to opening up potential new export business.

Whether you have exported to Canada before, or are just becoming more interested in exploring its potential, join us to learn about the most up-to-date opportunities in key industries and hotspots, and the best practices for doing business in Canada. Register here (places are limited).

As our two countries embark on a new trading relationship there is no better time to explore export opportunities with Canada, a country that has strong historical links with the UK and a track record of transatlantic business, innovation, and international collaborations.
